Jaron Ennis’ ‘Truth’ Tweet Could Be About The Leaked Half-million-dollar Offer To Welterweight Rashidi Ellis For His 154 Lb Debut

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis posted a cryptic message on X today, saying the “Truth is going to come out.”
The former unified welterweight champion ‘Boots’ Ennis appears to be wanting to discuss the talk of his management offering $500,000 to welterweight Rashdi Ellis for his supposed tune-up at 154 to get him comfortable with the new weight class.
Fan Backlash Over Ennis’s Tune-up
Ennis, 28, has been getting roasted by fans on social media ever since the news was leaked of him targeting the 147-pounder Ellis (27-1, 18 KOs) for his tune-up fight.
Boxing fans feel that Jaron is truly interested in getting acclimated to the 154-lb division and is choosing to take another easy payday at his promoter, Eddie Hearn’s, expense, while delaying his fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr.
The Wasted Investment on ‘Boots’
Hearn has got to be kicking himself right now over his decision to re-sign Ennis. He wasted his money. Taking a tune-up makes Ennis look weak, as he’s in the prime of his career, staying active, and shouldn’t require a tune-up to get him ready to begin fighting the top guys at 154.
If the aging Terence Crawford chose not to take a warm-up fight coming off a 13-month layoff to challenge Israil Madrimov last year in August, then Ennis should be willing to jump right into the mix to face Vergil Ortiz Jr. or one of the other top 154-pounders.
Fans Call Ennis’s Opponents ‘Mediocre’
Targeting the welterweight Rashidi as his tune-up shows that Boots is afraid to take the risks that top fighters should be willing to take. Fans are ready to see Ennis’ entire career as nothing but tune-ups, as he’s never fought anyone who didn’t fit that category.
Ennis’ Best Career Opponents
– Eimantas Stanionis
– Karen Chukhadzhian
– Roiman Villa
– David Avanesyan
That’s a mediocre bunch right there. The other fighters that Ennis has fought, tomato-can-level opposition, are far worse.
The truth gonna come to the light 😎
